Discovering the Top Spas in Palm Springs, California

For millennia, the Palm Springs area has been known for “taking to the water” and enjoying the therapeutic benefits of natural hot springs rich in minerals. This custom dates back to the first Native Americans, in particular to the Agua Caliente group of the Cahuilla Indians, who deeply understood and worshiped the healing properties of these groundwater.

Nowadays, Palm Springs remains a prime destination for relaxation and the pleasure of Spa treatments, attracting discerning travelers and Hollywood greats. From the iconic characters of the Golden Age such as Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe and Liz Taylor to modern celebrities such as Katy Perry, Justin Bieber and the Kardashians, Palm Springs has long been a refuge for generations of stars in search of leisure and rejuvenation.

The best wellness retreats in Palm Springs

What fascinates me about Palm Springs retreats is the harmonious blend of elements: lots of sun, detoxifying hot springs, culinary delights and the majestic setting of the San Jacinto Mountains. With numerous spas and resorts scattered throughout the nine desert communities, the options for fun and relaxation are many and varied.

Things to do near Tommy Bahama Miramonte Resort

Nestled in the affluent area of Indian Wells, this resort reflects the ethos of the Tommy Bahama brand – a fusion of island charm with desert luxury. The resort is spread over 11 acres and has 215 spacious rooms, well-appointed suites and five villa suites. The Tommy Bahama Miramonte Resort & Spa opened its doors on November 23, 2023, after a major renovation.

Palm trees logos and a tropical atmosphere permeate the complex, which is reflected in the room designs. Decorated with green leaf wallpaper and touches of grapefruit pink, the rooms offer spacious accommodation. The bathrooms are equipped with fluffy towels and personalized Tommy Bahama toiletries.

Winding paths wind through the grounds, connecting three saltwater pools, two petanque courts, citrus and olive trees, vibrant flower beds, fragrant herb gardens, the Spa and the lobby.

During the day, guests can relax by the quiet pools, and after dark, they can gather around crackling fireplaces to end their day in a soothing way.

Tommy Bahama Miramonte Resort

Spa Rosa debuted at Tommy Bahama Miramonte Resort & Spa when the resort opened in 2023. Nestled in the middle of a lush landscape filled with citrus fruits, this closed sanctuary offers a breathtaking view of the Santa Rosa Mountains from its Terrace.

As soon as you enter the Rosa Spa, the reception welcomes you and leads you to the changing rooms. There is a cozy living room where you can wait for an appointment while drinking fruit-infused water. The cloakroom has a eucalyptus steam room; outside you will find the hot spring and the spa pool. There are huts that you can book for private treatments or to relax. Several private cabin-style spaces offer sheltered places to relax. Enjoy a treatment and spend the day in the quiet courtyard of the spa.

But that’s not all that Spa Rosa offers. Live one of the many unique experiences, including yin Yoga, outdoor aerial classes and shaman-guided hikes.

Signature Treatments

I chose the Desert Raindrops Massage, which uses seven different aromatherapy oils from native desert plants. The drops of oil ran down my spine, then were gently massaged into my back as part of the treatment. I appreciate the scent of this soothing treatment that targets tensions and overloaded muscles and extends your therapeutic touch to the hands and feet.
